Payment Methods
At Robert White, you can place orders online, by telephone, or in person at our premises. Online payments can be made using debit or credit cards, PayPal, Shop Pay, or direct bank transfer. Telephone orders can be paid for using debit or credit cards only. For purchases made on our premises, payment can be completed using our card machine (PDQ / Chip & Pin) or with cash. PayPal
Since introducing PayPal in 2014, it has quickly become one of the most popular payment methods for online orders. During checkout on the Robert White website, you’ll see the option to pay with PayPal — choose this if you want to use your existing PayPal account. After selecting PayPal, you’ll be redirected to the PayPal website to log in and confirm your details, before returning to robertwhite.co.uk to review and finalise your order.
All PayPal transactions are screened using PayPal’s Advanced Fraud Management Filters. Please be aware that additional security checks may be required for unconfirmed addresses, which can lead to delivery delays. 💳 Accepted Payment Methods
We accept Visa, Mastercard and Maestro credit and debit cards through our secure Shopify Payments checkout. American Express is not currently supported.
🔒 Secure Checkout
Your card details are entered directly into Shopify’s encrypted checkout and transmitted securely to the payment processor. No card information is ever stored on our servers. Our website is protected by a 256‑bit SSL certificate, providing industry‑leading encryption for all sensitive data.
🛡️ Fraud Protection
Every transaction is screened using advanced fraud‑prevention technology to ensure your payment is processed safely and correctly.
🔐 3D Secure Authentication
You may be asked to complete 3D Secure verification (Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecureCode) during checkout. This additional step helps protect your card from unauthorised use. Most UK card issuers now require full 3D Secure authentication, and orders without successful verification may be declined. International card providers are continuing to adopt this system, and it is expected to become mandatory worldwide.
Payment over the telephone:
If you choose to pay by card over the telephone, a member of our team will securely process the payment using the details you provide. All telephone card transactions are handled through Shopify Payments, offering the same level of security and encryption as our online checkout.

Bank Transfer
🏦 Paying by Bank Transfer
We accept direct bank transfer for orders placed online or over the phone. Please note that orders will only be dispatched once full payment has cleared into our account. If you require fast shipping, we recommend paying by card or PayPal instead.
⏱️ Payment Deadline
Bank transfer payments should be made within 48 hours of placing your order. If we do not receive confirmation of payment within this timeframe, your order may be cancelled.
🌍 International Bank Transfers
International payments may take longer to clear. If you need same‑day dispatch or expedited delivery, please choose card payment at checkout.
We can only accept payments in Pounds Sterling (GBP). Some international banks charge a fee for sending GBP; if this fee is not paid by you, it will be deducted from the amount we receive. In such cases, we will need to contact you for the missing balance, which may result in additional charges. Many banks also require GBP transfers to be made in‑branch rather than online—please check with your bank or payment agent before sending funds.

Please do not send payment before placing an order. Once your order is created, you will receive an order number, which must be used as the payment reference.

Fraud Screening & Security
In addition to the payment‑specific measures outlined above, we may carry out further security checks whenever we consider them necessary.
We take security extremely seriously. Fraud is a persistent and growing issue, and we ask our customers to understand that requests for additional information are never personal. Every procedure we follow is designed to safeguard both our customers and our business.
To ensure transactions are processed smoothly, please provide accurate payment details. The 'Billing Address' must match the address registered to your card and should be entered exactly as it appears with your card provider. Incorrect information may result in your order being declined. In such cases, the order may be automatically rejected at checkout or processed with a request for further details to verify the cardholder’s identity.
We reserve the right to decline any online order on fraud or security grounds, even if payment has already been authorised by your bank. A ‘successful’ payment does not guarantee that an order is genuine, as card providers transfer liability to the retailer and may approve transactions with very limited credibility—if they did not, online fraud would not be the widespread issue it is today. Should we decline a paid order, it will be refunded immediately.
If you wish to ship to an address other than the card’s registered billing address, the order must be placed online so that automated security checks—such as 3D Secure—can be completed. For security reasons, we are unable to ship to alternative addresses for telephone orders.
